About The Position

The Assistant Coach for Boys Soccer at Granville Exempted Village School District uses technical expertise to coach the assigned athletic activity. This role involves working with student athletes to improve their personal and teamwork skills, providing guidance and encouragement, and upholding district policies and administrative guidelines. The coach promotes a professional image of the school district, encourages community partnerships, and fosters effective communication. Responsibilities include reviewing procedures, consulting with the head coach on program needs, promoting the proper use and care of school property, and attending mandatory programs. The position also involves coordinating off-season activities, explaining program objectives and student responsibilities to parents and students, verifying eligibility, promoting academic success, organizing team tryouts, and carrying out the assigned practice schedule. The assistant coach ensures athletes receive appropriate instruction and support, helps assign and track equipment, supervises the preparation of athletic fields, teaches injury prevention, and ensures equipment is appropriate for participants. They also help evaluate individual/team performance, develop game strategies, recruit and supervise student managers/trainers/scouts, and assist the activities director with personnel for home games. Upholding the student conduct code, implementing pupil management procedures, and modeling respectful behavior are key. The coach arranges transportation, accompanies the team to activities, obtains permission for absences, provides guidance on student progress, participates in recognition programs, and ensures participants meet requirements for awards. Safety precautions, monitoring situations, providing supervision, and working with supervisors to manage risk factors are essential. The role includes assisting with approved fundraising projects and ensuring financial activities are processed correctly. The assistant coach also assists with collecting, verifying, and recording program information, maintaining accurate records, and submitting reports on time. Participation in staff meetings and maintaining confidentiality are required. The coach must report suspected child abuse or neglect and encourage parent organizations. Requirements

  • Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
  • Relevant coaching experience.
  • Knowledgeable about interscholastic athletic program regulations.
  • Completion of state activity supervisory permit requirements (e.g., first aid/CPR, etc.).
  • Meets all mandated health requirements.
  • A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
