About The Position

This position supports the High School in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates commitment to strengthening relations with the educational system as well as the coaching profession. The Assistant Coach supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program for boys' golf. This role requires knowledge of the sport's rules and regulations, and the ability to assume duties assigned by the head coach, including taking responsibility in the head coach's absence. The Assistant Coach is accountable to the head coach, athletic director, and principal. Responsibilities include accompanying and directing the team to all games and practices, holding current first aid and CPR certifications, and staying current on coaching clock hours. The role exemplifies good sportsmanship and adheres to the same expectations as the head coach.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Prior coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program for boys' golf.
  • Assumes duties assigned by the head coach pertaining to the overall athletic program.
  • Assumes responsibilities of the head coach in the absence of the head coach.
  • Accompanies and directs the assigned team to all games and practices.
  • Instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport.
  • Maintains facilities and equipment.
  • Supervises team players at practice, contests, in the locker room, and during travel.
  • Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example.
  • Exemplifies the highest moral and ethical behavior.
  • Instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities and demands they make sportsmanship a high priority.
  • Respects the judgment of contest officials, abides by rules of the event, and displays no behavior that could incite fans.
  • Treats opposing coaches, participants, fans, and media members with respect.
  • Develops and enforces penalties for participants who do not abide by sportsmanship standards.
  • Develops a method to publicly recognize good sportsmanship.
  • Reports contest results to the League Statistician as directed.
