About The Position

The City of Duarte is seeking an energetic and skilled boxing coach to instruct youth and adult participants. The Assistant Boxing Trainer, under the direction of the Teen Center Supervisor, is responsible for assisting in the operation of the boxing program, including teaching youth boxing fundamentals and supervision of facility and equipment, along with other duties assigned. Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 3pm-7pm and some weekends.

Requirements

• Knowledge of effective youth supervision and discipline.
• Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
• Knowledge of functions, policies, and procedures of relevant departments and/or operations.
• Knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and perform duties as assigned with minimal supervision.
• Ability to interpret and apply department policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and all levels of staff and management.
• Ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written direction.
• Ability to mentor youth and act as a role model.
• Ability to cooperatively work with fellow employees, children, and the public.

Nice To Haves

• USA boxing Green certification highly desired.
• May be required to have valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the supervision and operation of the boxing gym and program.
• Enforces and follows all rules, regulations, and policies of the City of Duarte.
• Organize, officiate, and instruct children and adult activities; teach fundamentals of boxing and sportsmanship.
• Assist in maintaining and cleaning facility and equipment.
• Assist patrons and other recreation staff in routine and emergency situations, including administering first aid.
• Make recommendations regarding the acquisition or replacement of equipment and supplies.
• Enforce rules and regulations of recreational facility to maintain discipline and ensure safety.
• Performs other related duties as required.
