About The Position

YAI is hiring an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist (ABIS) to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities using a person-centered approach. The position combines direct support professional duties with clinical leadership under the supervision of a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS). ABIS staff work with individuals in their homes, workplaces, and daily lives, teaching daily and independent living skills, providing individual and group counseling, supporting community integration, and assisting with activities of daily living and personal care as needed. The ABIS provides direct care and helps implement treatment plans, develops individualized habilitative plans, conducts behavioral and habilitative assessments, and establishes and monitors data collection systems. The role also supports clinical documentation and staff development: training and coaching team members on habilitative and behavioral interventions, communicating clinical rationales, modeling person-centered practices, and providing clinical support when the BIS or Supervisor is absent. The position is based in Mamaroneck, New York, and is full-time, Sunday through Thursday, with varying scheduled shifts.
