About The Position

This position assists in the coordination of the HCC Baseball team by performing all duties assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director to the best of their ability and in a professional manner. This is a part-time 10 month (August - May) position. Salary includes room and board. Meals are provided when the college cafeteria is serving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record with no major infractions in the past five years.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, community members, and employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience and/or training desired.
  • Computer experience desired.
  • Film editing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend and take part in the in-service training provided by the Head Coach.
  • Be familiar with and follow the policies of Highland Community College, the NJCAA, and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.
  • Attend practices and home and away contests in the Baseball Program as assigned by the Head Coach, including but not limited to throwing batting practice, hitting fungo, etc.
  • Teach sportsmanship and set an example of good moral and physical behavior.
  • Teach fundamentals, techniques, etc., as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assume responsibility of assisting the head coach, under his/her supervision, in performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist the Head Coach with driving responsibilities to away contests.
  • Assist the Head Coach with recruiting activities as directed.
  • Be loyal to the Head Coach and his/her program.
  • Participate in and be supportive of the Rules, Mission, and initiatives of the HCC Athletic Department and Athletic Director.
