About The Position

The Assistant Baseball Coach at Eaglecrest High School is responsible for instructing student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success. This role aims to foster moral values, pride in accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence in student athletes. The position also involves promoting good community relations. The assistant coach reports to the head coach and the high school athletic director. They are responsible for supervising all aspects of their level of the program under the direction of the head coach. This includes providing program information to the head coach, managing inventory of supplies and equipment, scheduling and attending practices, and developing/implementing training plans in conjunction with overall program goals. The coach must ensure all athletes are cleared to participate, comply with all relevant rules and regulations, and monitor athlete attendance, behavior, and academic status. Additionally, the coach must be proficient in first-aid and CPR, understand concussion protocols, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Assist with the organization and developing the high school program.
  • Basic knowledge of baseball.
  • Possess or have the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
  • Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test.
  • Acquire CHSSA coaching registration.
  • Complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
  • CPR & AED Certification required.
  • Previous successful teaching, coaching and/or sport participation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs student athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.

  • Responsible for inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Schedules and attends practice sessions.
  • Develops and implements individual/team training plans.
  • Ensures each athlete is cleared by the athletic office to participate.
  • Complies with rules and regulations of CCSD, Centennial League, and CHSAA.
  • Monitors athlete's attendance, behavior, and academic status.
  • Utilizes approved first-aid and CPR skills.
  • Understands concussion signs and symptoms and removes affected players.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
