About The Position

The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in providing leadership, vision, and strategic planning for the Post University Baseball Team. This role involves coaching and developing an assigned player group, creating daily practice plans, implementing player development tools like Rapsodo and Synergy, organizing and tracking player metrics, overseeing strength training, and assisting with recruiting efforts. The position also includes responsibilities related to fundraising, administrative tasks, equipment management, and maintaining professionalism and compliance with NCAA rules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred and collegiate coaching and/or playing experience required.
  • Familiarity with Fast Draw, Microsoft Office, Synergy and/or video editing.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, student-athletes, and potential recruits and their families.
  • Excellent communication, written and oral skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Coaching experience: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Baseball experience: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Record and submit all compliance paperwork in a timely manner, including recruiting logs, financial aid/NLI request forms, and playing and practice records.
  • Represent the school in a positive manner, exhibiting superior sportsmanship and adhering to NCAA, CACC, and Post University guidelines.
  • Drive the team van to and from contests, pre-season practice, or tournaments as needed.
  • Attend the annual athletic awards banquet, CACC conference meetings, all-star balloting/voting meetings, and all Post University Athletic Department meetings.
  • Assist the Head Coach in providing leadership, vision, and strategic planning for the Post University Athletic Team.
  • Coach and develop an assigned player group, utilizing relative coaching or playing experience.
  • Develop daily practice plans in conjunction with the Head Coach.
  • Implement Rapsodo pitching or hitting units for player development.
  • Utilize the in-game video system (Synergy) for scouting, player development, and recruiting.
  • Organize, track, and improve metrics of relative data for position players or pitchers.
  • Oversee all strength training workouts and collaborate with the strength staff to develop strength training and mobility programs.
  • Identify potential prospects for recruiting.
  • Travel to evaluate potential prospects in games.
  • Contact potential recruits and generate interest in Post University Baseball.
  • Set up and be present for on-campus visits for potential recruits.
  • Communicate with the Head Coach regarding recruits.
  • Abide by the recruiting philosophy set by the Head Coach.
  • Create scouting reports in the template provided by the Head Coach.
  • Complete pre-game and post-game scouting reports on each opponent by the deadline provided.
  • Aid in all fundraising activities of the athletic department/baseball program.
  • Develop CARA reports for all players in the program.
  • Contribute to pre-practice setup and post-practice cleanup.
  • Assist with the organization of equipment.
  • Help with washing uniforms and loops.
  • Coordinate team meals when necessary.
  • Ensure all equipment is transported to and from practice/competition sites.
  • Comply with all NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Be on time for all job-related activities.
  • Dress in proper attire for games, practices, and recruiting functions.
  • Meet deadlines when requested.
  • Handle all tasks with respect and consideration for others.
  • Comply with instructions given by all supervisors.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned throughout the year.
