About The Position

Bixby Public Schools is seeking a passionate and collaborative Assistant Director of Bands to join our rapidly growing and highly successful band program. Bixby Bands is a student-centered program with a strong tradition of excellence, innovation, and continued growth. We are looking for an educator who thrives in a team environment and is eager to contribute to a positive, high-achieving culture. This position includes a 178-day contract with additional stipends for extra duty days.

Requirements

• Must hold or be in the process of obtaining an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Instrumental Music
• Strong communication, collaboration, and instructional skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team-oriented program

Nice To Haves

• Woodwind or brass specialist preferred, but all qualified candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the high school marching band (Pride of Bixby) and concert ensembles
• Team-teach 6th grade beginning band classes
• Collaborate with and support the middle school band program (7th–8th grade)
• Assist in coordinating concerts, performances, trips, and other program activities
• Opportunities to work with high school concert ensembles
• Additional duties assigned based on the candidate’s strengths, experience, and program needs
