About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily bakery operations, team supervision, food safety compliance, and merchandising execution. This role helps ensure high standards for product quality, freshness, presentation, and customer service while supporting sales growth and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous Bakery or fresh food retail experience required
  • Knowledge of baking procedures, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to safely operate Bakery equipment
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior leadership, lead, or supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily Bakery department operations, including production, stocking, display setup, and product rotation
  • Support supervision, training, and development of Bakery associates
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and handling standards at all times
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, production planning, and inventory accuracy
  • Help control shrink through proper rotation, markdown execution, and waste reduction practices
  • Maintain bakery production schedules to meet sales and freshness expectations
  • Execute merchandising standards, promotions, and seasonal programs
  • Monitor product quality, freshness, labeling, and presentation throughout the day
  • Support scheduling, task delegation, and workload coverage to ensure efficient department operations
  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting with special orders and product inquiries
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas, ovens, cases, and storage areas
  • Communicate department performance, needs, and opportunities to store and department leadership
  • Uphold safety standards and participate in store‑wide safety and loss prevention initiatives
