About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in overseeing all bakery department operations, including production, merchandising, inventory, food safety, and team leadership. This role helps ensure high-quality baked goods, an appealing sales floor, and excellent customer service while driving sales and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Previous bakery, food service, or perishable department experience required
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Knowledge of baking techniques and food safety practices preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily bakery production and department workflow
  • Ensure all products are prepared, packaged, and displayed according to company standards
  • Maintain consistent product quality, freshness, and presentation
  • Monitor and reduce shrink through proper production planning and rotation
  • Support execution of bakery displays, seasonal items, and promotional events
  • Ensure proper signage, pricing accuracy, and product availability
  • Maintain full, clean, and visually appealing cases and displays
  • Drive sales through product knowledge and suggestive selling
  • Assist with ordering supplies and products to meet business needs
  • Monitor inventory levels and adjust production accordingly
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients and finished goods
  • Support inventory counts and audits
  • Help train, coach, and support bakery associates
  • Provide direction to team members to meet production and service goals
  • Promote a positive, team-oriented, and customer-focused environment
  • Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Bakery Manager
  • Deliver excellent service and respond to customer inquiries and special orders
  • Assist customers with product selection and customization requests
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company policies
  • Maintain proper temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and handling procedures
  • Follow all safety standards and operational guidelines
