About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is a leadership role focused on delivering an extraordinary customer service experience in a fast-paced, friendly environment. This position involves preparing and baking various goods like cookies, bread, and muffins using established recipes and ingredients. The Assistant Bakery Manager is responsible for providing excellent customer satisfaction through the management and leadership of Bakery Clerks, and by assisting the Bakery Manager in the daily supervision of the Bakery Department's operations. Key aspects of the role include managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit, overseeing ordering and inventory controls, ensuring product quality, and supervising the Bakery team. The role also involves executing merchandise rotation, building displays, monitoring incoming cases for damaged items, and maintaining deli equipment. A critical component is ensuring adherence to all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations by both the manager and the team.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of two years' retail grocery experience
  • Two years supervisory experience
  • Be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
  • Have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior
  • Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
  • Have good communication skills
  • Ability to give and take direction participating in a team environment
  • Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • Ability to vertically transfer tray up to 5 lbs., from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours
  • Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5” to 36”, for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer satisfaction through the management and leadership of Bakery Clerks
  • Assist the Bakery Manager in the daily supervision of Bakery Department operations
  • Assist the Bakery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Bakery team
  • Execute rotation of merchandise and building of displays
  • Monitor in-coming cases for damaged items
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service
  • Monitor the quality of Bakery product
  • Unload and sort through store deliveries
  • Operate and maintain deli equipment
  • Ensure the execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations
  • Validate that other Bakery team members are also aware of, and following, these procedures
  • Answer phones and take special orders
  • Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
  • Operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
  • Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
  • Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
