About The Position

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office is seeking a versatile Criminal and/or Civil Prosecutor to join our Vulnerable Adult and Medicaid Provider Fraud Unit (VAMPF). This unique opportunity offers true team collaboration with specialized VAMPF sworn law-enforcement investigators and auditors, fostering daily in-person interactions and opportunities for specialized training. It provides dual-track professional growth, allowing you to lead criminal litigations while simultaneously participating in the expansion of the Unit’s civil practice. The role is a hybrid case consultant and prosecutor position, with assignments including a mix of active litigation and cases under investigation, where you will serve as a legal resource. VAMPF investigates and prosecutes healthcare provider fraud and residential patient abuse across the state, operating as a self-contained strike force. The role offers the opportunity to work cases from referral through conviction or judgment, with a blend of criminal litigation, legal and policy drafting and review, and civil case assignments. Key opportunities include litigating in state criminal and civil courts, participating in federal cases with potential for SAUSA designation, promoting fraud deterrence and detection through policy recommendations, working directly with law enforcement and auditors, managing a focused caseload, attending internal and external training programs, and collaborating with numerous state and federal agencies.
