About The Position

The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance assists the Senior Athletics Director, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer in ensuring compliance with all aspects of institutional, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics operations. This position is responsible for the administration, monitoring and oversight on the day to day operations of assigned NCAA compliance areas and serves as a resource to coaches, staff, student-athletes, and campus partners regarding NCAA legislation and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an athletics department, conference office, NCAA office, or related higher education environment.
  • Strong written, oral, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and compliance software system.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Higher Education, Business Administration, Law, or related field.
  • Experience working in NCAA Division I intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Experience with Teamworks Compliance, Teamworks Recruiting, ARMS, LSDBi, or similar athletics compliance software.
  • Experience with Banner.
  • Experience with NCAA eligibility certification and waiver process.
  • Knowledge of NIL legislation and athletic compliance monitoring practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of the day-to-day administration and monitoring of the Athletics Compliance Office while utilizing Teamworks-Recruiting and Compliance forms and functions.
  • Monitor recruiting activities and review recruiting documentation to ensure compliance with NCAA, Conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Coordinate NCAA eligibility requirements for certification of student-athletes for initial, continuing, transfer, and amateurism eligibility.
  • Coordinate all compliance onboarding tasks including meetings, completion of participation forms and overseeing the SA Incoming Certification Process.
  • Serve as primary contact with NCAA Eligibility Center regarding assigned eligibility certification matters.
  • Monitor and certify student-athlete eligibility in accordance with NCAA, Conference, and institutional regulations.
  • Monitor playing and practice seasons, countable athletic related activities (CARA), and time management plan regulations for assigned sports.
  • Conduct audits and review compliance processes including recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, awards and benefits, and playing and practice sessions.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and delivery of NCAA rules education programs for coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, campus partners, and representatives of athletics interests.
  • Respond to compliance inquiries and issues NCAA rules interpretations for coaches, athletics staff, prospective student athlete, parents, and university constituents, including coordination and consultation with the Conference Office and NCAA.
  • Research NCAA rules and interpretations and provide guidance to athletics department staff members regarding NCAA legislation.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of NCAA waivers, legislative relief requests, eligibility appeals, student-athlete reinstatement requests and any other request through NCAA RSRO.
  • Coordinate with the Senior Associate AD to assist with investigation and reporting of NCAA and Conference rules violations.
  • Monitor and document Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) activities consistent with institutional, Conference, and NCAA requirements.
  • Assist in developing NIL contracts and agent negotiations as needed.
  • Utilize Teamworks Compliance, Teamworks Recruiting, and other compliance management systems to monitor activities, maintain records, and support rules education initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation related to recruiting, eligibility, financial aid. NIL, and playing and practice seasons.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus partners including Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Academic Services, Housing, International Student Services, and Dean of Students (SA conduct issues).
  • Participate in NCAA, Conference, and professional development programs to remain current with legislative changes and compliance best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines of the institution, Conference, and NCAA; must adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11.1 Conduct of Athletics Personnel.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, coaches, and staff.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
