About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is seeking an Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations to join its Athletic Department. This role is responsible for managing all operational functions for home sports contests and events, including coordinating with visiting teams, officials, and internal departments. The position also involves developing and executing operational plans for championship events, serving as a liaison for event coordination, performing facility inspections, coordinating maintenance and equipment installation, participating in budget planning, and managing student workers. GCU's Athletic Department is dedicated to helping student-athletes achieve excellence and personal growth through intercollegiate sports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in NCAA Division I athletic facilities and operations function or minimum 2 years’ experience in other NCAA Divisions or NAIA athletic and facilities functions.
  • Ability to pass background investigations.
  • Have a clear and valid driver's license.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Responsibilities

  • Develop operating plan to manage all operational functions needed for home sports contests or events.
  • Contact visiting teams and officials to gather needs/requirements.
  • Set up of athletic facility required for event/game sport.
  • Prepare staff information sheets.
  • Distribute credentials to visiting teams.
  • Develop an activity game day timeline for each event.
  • Lead/attend all preseason operations meetings and game day production meetings.
  • Monitor and track game and practice schedules; coordinate with GCU departments, public safety, and facilities.
  • Develop and execute an operational plan for all championship events hosted at GCU.
  • Serve as primary daily liaison for coordination of events with NCAA or Conference, Campus Events, Facilities, and GCU arena.
  • Perform physical inspections of the facilities to ensure operational readiness.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance for all athletic facilities and venues; contact vendors for equipment not maintained by GCU facilities.
  • Coordinate installation of new equipment/materiel and/or maintenance/upgrades with vendors.
  • Participate in operational budget planning for game operations; reconcile and manage monthly expenses.
  • Assist with administrative duties such as purchasing and work orders.
  • Manage student workers for athletic facilities operations, including hiring, scheduling, timecard approval, and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
