About The Position

The Sports Medicine Department at Mount St. Mary's University is seeking a certified athletic trainer to provide comprehensive care for student-athletes, focusing on prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses for the women's rugby and women's water polo teams. This role involves practice and game coverage, team travel, maintaining injury documentation, assisting with the operation of athletic training facilities, and collaborating with various university departments to ensure a positive student-athlete experience. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and is a 12-month salaried position with a complete benefits package.

Requirements

  • Board of Certification Athletic Trainer (new grads welcome to apply; experience preferred)
  • Current Maryland State Athletic Training Licensure or eligible for.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, travel involved.
  • CPR and First AID certified.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
  • Training in bloodborne pathogens.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred (Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, etc.)
  • Soft Tissue Mobilization certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the staff athletic trainer for the women’s rugby and women's water polo teams; with the potential of sport, practice and game coverage of other teams as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
  • Provide quality and comprehensive care for ALL student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation.
  • Travel with assigned teams.
  • Compile and maintain injury and treatment documentation for the Sports Medicine Department including injury tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with the supervision of the electronic medical records.
  • Assist with establishing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring of athletic training services to ALL student-athletes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
