About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and in accordance with all NCAA, Conference, State and Institutional rules and regulations, this position will perform athletic training duties that help ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide preventative care and treatments and rehabilitation support for student athletes as it relates to injuries or illnesses. This position is responsible for managing the evaluation documentation for the student athletes that they work with. The designated sport oversight of this position will be volleyball and secondary coverage of men’s and women’s swimming and diving. The Assistant athletic trainer will also be responsible for assisting with various administrative functions as well as providing supervision of athletic training students in a clinical setting. The individual must know, recognize and comply with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing University and its employees, and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (“NCAA”) and the applicable Conference, as now constituted or as they may be amended during the Term of this agreement. The employee shall take all reasonable steps to endeavor to ensure that all other employees for whom Employee is administratively responsible, comply with aforesaid policies, rules, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or have anticipated graduation date in May of 2026 from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program
  • Board of Certification Certified Athletic Trainer or sat and passed the BOC Exam in the spring of 2026
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Wisconsin

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in athletic training or related field
  • At least one (1) year of related work experience at the collegiate level
  • Experience with manual therapy skills and demonstrated ability to stay up to date with current trends
  • Experience covering multiple athletic teams
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team physicians, strength & conditioning staff, and other health professionals

Responsibilities

  • Advises, develops, and implements plans for injury and illness prevention, emergencies, and environmental monitoring to ensure safety of participants during practices, recreational play, events, and competitions
  • Serves as an onsite health care provider for assigned teams during practices, competitions, recreational play, or special events to ensure adequate treatment of injuries/illness and appropriate response to emergency and non-emergency situations
  • Coordinates patient care, makes referrals to various medical resources, and provides information based on injury/illness evaluations in collaboration with medical professionals
  • Evaluates, provides treatment and rehabilitation, and documents injuries/illnesses in consultation with health care professionals and in accordance with established practices, guidelines, and protocols
