About The Position

The TCHS Assistant Athletic Director, under the summary class title of Athletic Director, is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and implementing District athletic activities. This includes recommending the purchase and rental of equipment and athletic facilities, and coaching or assisting coaches in various athletic programs. The role also serves as the district point of contact for athletic program questions from school, district, and state personnel.

Requirements

  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Ability to assist coaches on one or more sports.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction.
  • Ability to plan and organize work.
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • A minimum of 64 semester hours from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of experience coaching in a school athletic program.
  • Successful completion of ABLE test.
  • Successful completion of a criminal records check.
  • Successful completion of AIDS awareness training.
  • Current certification in first aid and CPR.
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Promote sports in the schools and community.
  • Plan or assist in planning the athletic program.
  • Organize, supervise or assist in organizing and supervising practices.
  • Teach or assist in teaching individual fundamental skills, team play, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
  • Teach or assist in teaching sportsmanship and self-control.
  • Check or assist in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
  • Provide students a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
  • Conduct or assist in conducting learning experiences, with small groups of student athletes.
  • Recommend or assist in recommending the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
