About The Position

Boston College is seeking to fill the role of Assistant/Associate/Senior Associate Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations as they enter the fourth year of the public phase of their $3B comprehensive campaign, Soaring Higher. This role is crucial in finding funding for projects and specialized research, acting as a liaison between researchers and private foundations. The University Advancement team is described as large enough to benefit from campus resources yet agile and creative, with a centralized organizational structure offering diverse roles. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • For Assistant Director: 1-3 years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising
  • For Associate Director: 3-5 years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising
  • For Senior Associate Director: a minimum of 5 years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to compose strong, clearly written material, including general correspondence and major proposals that articulate funding priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively on higher education
  • Working knowledge of research resources for corporate and foundation fundraising
  • Familiarity with Windows PCs, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Google suite
  • Must be a collaborative team player who is enthusiastic, highly motivated, and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education
  • Appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education, and the goals and values of Boston College

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate degree is preferred
  • Preference for experience at a complex institution of higher education or a hospital at each level
  • A combination of corporate, foundation, or organizational fundraising and other directly transferable experience from fields such as government grant-seeking or corporate philanthropy will be considered for all levels
  • To be eligible for consideration for the Senior Associate Director, a candidate must demonstrate leadership, self-direction, initiative, and problem-solving ability and successfully manage a major corporate and/or foundation prospect portfolio

Responsibilities

  • Identification of prospects based on extensive analysis using written and online research resources
  • Participating in the cultivation and stewarding of corporate and foundation donors of all levels
  • Involvement in the direct solicitation of corporations and foundations
  • Developing and drafting major proposals
  • Developing fundraising strategies for senior administration and faculty, and other assignments, as necessary
