About The Position

The Assistant Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations develops and manages a portfolio of corporate and private foundation prospects and partners to secure philanthropic support for university priorities. The position collaborates with university leadership, faculty, and staff to identify funding opportunities, develop competitive proposals, cultivate and steward relationships, and advance strategic fundraising initiatives that support the university’s mission.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required.
  • The incumbent will be required to travel off campus and be able to travel some distance to accommodate potential donors and must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to perform clerical work involving sound judgment, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with program staff, academic departments, the Vice President’s office, and a variety of offices and individuals on and off campus.
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
  • Valid California driver's license required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Power Point, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Canva, CRM databases, grant research databases, and social media platforms like LinkedIn.

Responsibilities

  • Build and independently manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects, driving all phases of the development life cycle: identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and renewal, with responsibility for securing annual renewals and new entry- and mid-level philanthropic investments in support of university priorities.
  • Collaborate with faculty and campus partners to research, write, coordinate, and submit grant applications, proposals, and letters of inquiry, with a focus on entry- and mid-level awards ranging from $10,000 to $75,000. Lead the proposal development process with grant seekers and ensure alignment with university policies, approval requirements, and gift and grant compliance standards.
  • Lead prospect cultivation and stewardship activities, including campus visits, in-person and virtual meetings, presentation materials for corporate and foundation representatives, and the development of impact reports. Create and maintain the CFR LinkedIn page to promote external philanthropic engagement, and produce the CFR Grant Opportunities Digest to increase campus awareness of philanthropic opportunities and application deadlines.
