The Department of Political Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Public Administration in the Division of Planning and Public Affairs for spring or fall 2027. We seek an innovative teacher-scholar with expertise in public administration, public policy, nonprofit management, emergency management, public finance, or a related field. Area of specialization is open. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in our NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration (MPA) program and serve as the MPA Program Coordinator, providing leadership for curriculum development, assessment, student recruitment and advising, accreditation activities, and continuous program improvement. They will also be expected to develop and sustain an active, nationally recognized research agenda with the potential to secure external funding. Faculty in the Division of Planning and Public Affairs are encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary research and collaborate with the Division's research centers, including the Center for Hazards Assessment, Response, and Technology (CHART) and the LSU New Orleans Transportation Institute (UNOTI). This position is responsible for 9 academic units per semester (3/3) for faculty who maintain an active research agenda. Course releases may be given for robust funded research activities or extensive service responsibilities as appropriate. Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and supervising master and doctoral students in Public Affairs, Political Science, and Urban Studies, as well as other courses that are within the candidate’s area of expertise.
