About The Position

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks candidates for the position(s) of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics. UICOMP is a regional campus of one of the largest public medical schools in the United States, known for its small class sizes and exceptional faculty mentorship. UICOMP faculty provide care to over 45,000 patients annually and contribute to the education and training of over 260 students and more than 300 residents and fellows. UICOMP's healthcare partners include Jump Simulation, OSF Saint Medical Center, OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, and Carle Hearth Greater Peoria. UICOMP is also part of an R1 research institute with translational research focusing on Alzheimer dementia and oncology. The Pediatric Neurologist will provide clinical services in-patient and out-patient primarily at OSF Healthcare Children's Hospital of Illinois. They will be responsible for teaching medical students and residents. Scholarly work activity (research, quality improvement, and advocacy) is expected but tailored to the faculty member's interests.

Requirements

  • MD/DO or foreign equivalent
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois
  • 2 years of Pediatrics Residency
  • 3 years Pediatric Neurology Fellowship
  • BC/BE in Pediatrics and Neurology with a concentration in Pediatric Neurology

Responsibilities

  • Provide acute and ongoing consultative care to children with a broad range of neurological conditions including epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, developmental delays, headaches, movement disorders, and neurogenetic problems in the hospital and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in educational and training programs for medical students and residents of the Department of Pediatrics.
  • Participate in collaborative research activities of the Section and Department.
  • Perform other duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and student counseling.
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling and administration.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
