About The Position
Sacred Heart University’s School of Computing & Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor to support the continued growth of its Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program. The anticipated start date is Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be an innovative educator-scholar committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentoring, and scholarly activity. The role emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning and active engagement with students, with opportunities to contribute to curriculum development and continuous program improvement aligned with ABET accreditation standards. The School of Computing & Engineering is located in Fairfield, Connecticut, and offers undergraduate programs in computing, engineering, and construction management, as well as graduate programs and certificates. Sacred Heart University is a Catholic university with a Fairfield campus, a campus in Dingle, Ireland, and online programs.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline, attained before August 2027.
- Comfort with a highly interactive learning environment involving significant faculty-student interaction.
- Openness to innovative pedagogical approaches.
- Strong potential for scholarly research and productivity.

Responsibilities
- Design and teach problem-based, hands-on courses such as fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, machine design, and heat transfer.
- Conduct quality research in the discipline.
- Mentor students and engage actively with them in a highly interactive learning environment.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous program improvement aligned with ABET accreditation standards.
