About The Position

The Resource and Energy Engineering (REE) program at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Instruction. The successful candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Engineering or a closely related field. Preferences will be given to candidates with industry experience and interests in the following areas: Developing energy resources including renewable, subsurface, and nuclear; Transporting, storage, and distribution of energy as electricity and fuel; Engineering design for energy infrastructure projects; Engineering management of industrial energy systems. We are looking for faculty who have experience or an interest in teaching at the undergraduate level and support development of our new master’s and doctorate programs in both face-to-face and on-line formats. The position may involve teaching in the summer semesters. The position workload is focused on teaching and service. There are opportunities to be involved in research and program administration that is commensurate with the candidate’s background and interests. In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D. or equivalent in engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience or interest in engineering education
  • Demonstrated experience in energy engineering or management
  • Strong commitment to teaching excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Previous university-level teaching experience
  • Experience mentoring students and student design teams
  • Familiarity with renewable and/or subsurface energy tools and technologies
  • Experience with development of new courses and programs

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary instructor of a range of undergraduate REE courses
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate REE curriculum development, deployment, and assessment
  • Support program accreditation activities
  • Advise and mentor students and student design team
  • Develop and support industry-related engagements
  • The development and launch of the new master’s and doctorate programs in REE
  • Mentor and supervise student design teams
