About The Position

The College of Education, Humanities, and Social Science invites applications for a 1-year, non-tenure-track, full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education. We seek an accomplished educator with strong expertise in online and hybrid course design, a deep understanding of Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) standards, and a commitment to preparing future early childhood professionals for today’s educational environments. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Early Childhood Education, contribute to program development, and play a key role in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality online learning experiences. This position combines teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, and service to the college and profession.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Early Childhood Education
  • Demonstrated expertise in online course development and delivery at the college level
  • Thorough knowledge of Pennsylvania Department of Education standards, frameworks, and early childhood certification requirements
  • College-level teaching experience in early childhood education or related disciplines
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace)
  • Background in accreditation, assessment, or program coordination
  • Active engagement in professional organizations related to early childhood education
  • Experience working with diverse learners and promoting inclusive teaching practices

Responsibilities

  • Teach early childhood education courses online, hybrid, and face-to-face modalities
  • Design, develop, and revise online courses aligned with best practices in instructional design and accessibility
  • Ensure curriculum alignment with Pennsylvania Department of Education standards, including certification and licensure requirements
  • Mentor and advise students pursuing careers in early childhood and related fields
  • Participate in assessment, accreditation, and program review activities
  • Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to support innovative teaching and learning
  • Contractual teaching load is 4/4. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses currently in our academic catalog, ranging from introductory through capstone levels
