The Department of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University, College of Science and Technology, invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position in the area of Artificial Intelligence in Biology, beginning preferably in August 2026. The position is expected to be at the Assistant Professor level; however, exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a higher rank. We seek applicants who can establish a collaborative and innovative research program leveraging big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to advance understanding, prediction, and solutions for complex biological problems or disorders. Candidates whose work applies these techniques to evolutionary biology or precision medicine are also strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Responsibilities include teaching Biology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing curriculum and new courses, supervising student research, and providing service to the University and community. The ideal candidate will establish and sustain a productive, externally funded research program utilizing artificial intelligence and large-scale biological data; publish in peer-reviewed journals; and supervise Ph.D. and M.S. students in Applied Biological Sciences and related areas. Mentoring undergraduate researchers is also expected. Candidates whose teaching, research, and service contributions support the mission of the Biology Department and align with the strategic vision of the College of Science and Technology and the University are highly desirable. Collaboration with colleagues across the sciences, mathematics, and technology disciplines is strongly encouraged.
