Assistant/Associate Professor (Open Rank) - Internal Medicine
About The Position
The UNT System College of Pharmacy and Health Professions (CPHP) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNT Health) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor (open rank) with clinical expertise in internal medicine for the Department of Pharmacotherapy. This role involves contributing to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program through teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will instruct across the pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice curriculum, participate in curriculum development and assessment, and mentor PharmD students. A key aspect of the role is maintaining an internal medicine clinical practice that supports interprofessional patient care and experiential education. The faculty member will also be expected to develop and maintain scholarly activity relevant to their expertise and contribute service to the Department, College, University, profession, and community. Collaboration with faculty and healthcare professionals to advance pharmacy education, clinical practice, and the mission of UNT Health is essential.
Requirements
- PharmD from an ACPE accredited pharmacy program with a pharmacy degree.
- Eligible to practice pharmacy in Texas.
- Completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residency training program OR possess a minimum of five years of acute care clinical patient related experience.
- Knowledge of pharmacy practice, pharmacotherapy, and internal medicine.
- Strong clinical reasoning and ability to apply evidence-based principles to complex patient-care situations.
- Knowledge and skill in pharmacy education, including teaching, curriculum development, student assessment, and mentorship.
- Knowledge and ability to engage in research and scholarly activity.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills within academic and interprofessional healthcare environments.
- Ability to adapt and contribute effectively across teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, and service responsibilities.
- Must be able to maintain the security and integrity of critical organizational infrastructure if responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having access to it.
Nice To Haves
- Completed a post-graduate year two (PGY2) program in an acute care specialty such as internal medicine or pharmacotherapy.
- Similar fellowship training.
- Five years of academic/clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program through teaching, clinical practice, scholarship, and service.
- Provide instruction across the pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice curriculum.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
- Mentor PharmD students.
- Maintain an internal medicine clinical practice that supports interprofessional patient care and experiential education.
- Develop and maintain scholarly activity consistent with expertise and academic appointment.
- Contribute service to the Department, College, University, profession, and community.
- Collaborate with faculty and healthcare professionals to advance pharmacy education, clinical practice, and the mission of UNT Health.
- Deliver the PharmD curriculum for Professional Years 1 to 4 (PY1, PY2, PY3, PY4) as it relates to the pharmacy practice components of professional pharmacy education.
- Contribute to a culture of scholarly excellence within the Department through research.
- Contribute to a culture of assessment within the Department and College in cooperation with faculty of other Schools/Colleges at UNT Health to provide interprofessional education.
- Contribute to service efforts that enhance the quality of pharmacy education and research in Texas and nationwide.
