About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Virginia Military Institute (VMI) invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, with appointment commensurate with qualifications and experience. The selected candidates will teach undergraduate psychology courses as well as a course in VMI’s core leadership curriculum. Areas of specialization within psychology are open. Applicants from any area of psychology are encouraged to apply. Experience teaching or conducting research related to leadership, ethics, organizations, or human performance is welcomed but not required. Appointments begin in August 2027.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology is preferred; advanced ABD candidates will be considered.
  • Doctorate must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • Indicate the anticipated date of dissertation defense in the cover letter if ABD.
  • Cover letter describing interest in the position, teaching experience and interests, research agenda, and ability to contribute to VMI’s mission of developing citizen-soldiers and future leaders.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Three letters of recommendation.

Nice To Haves
