About The Position

Belmont University is seeking a qualified Assistant / Associate Professor for Hospitality and Tourism Management. This tenure-track faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within the College. The university is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to their innovative general education program, demonstrating an ability to design and teach interdisciplinary and topical courses. Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and current developments in the field of study.
  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content taught.
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage in high-quality scholarly activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
  • Ability to integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
  • Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the programs and services offered by Belmont University.
  • Interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Ph.D. or progress toward a terminal degree is required.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialization/certification in the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Knowledge of hospitality and tourism practice and management.
  • Experience in culinary operations, food & beverage production and management.
  • ServSafe (or similar) certification.
  • Evidence of scholarly achievements in area of expertise preferably in culinary and/or food & beverage management.
  • Experience delivering, developing applied experience courses and/or culinary/food & beverage training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses offered in the College.
  • Collaborate in course design for the general education program.
  • Teach interdisciplinary and topical courses within the general education program.
  • Engage in high-quality scholarly activity.
  • Advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
