About The Position

St. Michael’s Hospital, a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, is seeking applicants for the Blair Foundation Early Professorship in Vascular Surgery. The successful candidate must currently hold a full-time clinical, or status-only academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, and an active staff appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital. The term of the position is 5 years. The objective of the Blair Early Career Professor in Vascular Surgery program is to support an individual vascular surgeon or scientist in pursuit of multiyear, longitudinal programs of investigation with the ultimate goal of advancing long-term health outcomes and quality of life for Canadian patients with vascular disease. The primary focus of the Professorships is to support research in the field of vascular surgery – in the Department of Surgery – at each of the three academic hospitals affiliated with the University of Toronto Division of Vascular Surgery. Professorship recipients are expected to demonstrate improved understanding of the specific research area and/or contribute to improving patient care. Applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds, with an international reputation in their field, are encouraged. We welcome applicants working in any research domain directly relevant to vascular surgery. The successful candidate must have a strong research focus and hold either an MD or a PhD in a related discipline with significant expertise in vascular research. If a practicing clinician, they must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario.

Requirements

  • Currently hold a full-time clinical, or status-only academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
  • Hold an active staff appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital.
  • Hold an MD or a PhD in a related discipline with significant expertise in vascular research.
  • If a practicing clinician, must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario.

Benefits
