About The Position

The Department of Accounting & Legal Studies at Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business is seeking applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin in Fall 2027. The department's accounting program is AACSB-accredited and known for preparing students who are highly sought after by top accounting firms. This role involves teaching at the undergraduate and potentially graduate levels, focusing on financial accounting up to advanced levels, and at least one secondary area. Candidates qualified to teach fraud and forensic accounting, cost accounting, graduate managerial accounting, or other upper-level accounting courses are preferred. Those with a JD degree and the ability to teach business law courses are particularly encouraged to apply, as expertise in both accounting and legal studies is a significant advantage. The integration of AI tools into the classroom is a crucial aspect of this position. The standard teaching load is nine credit hours per semester, with a reduced load of six credit hours per semester for the first academic year. Additionally, the position requires publishing scholarly research and providing service to the department, school, and university. Effective teaching and classroom management strategies that support diverse learners are essential.

Requirements

  • Assistant Professor – 1) Ph.D./DBA degree or ABD in Accounting, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution. If ABD, doctoral degree must be completed before date of hire.
  • Assistant Professor – 2) Potential or demonstrated ability to be an excellent teacher.
  • Assistant Professor – 3) Potential or demonstrated ability to publish a steady stream of peer-reviewed scholarly research.
  • Assistant Professor – 4) Interest in teaching in a hybrid or online format.
  • Assistant Professor – 5) Professional certification or commitment to attain certification within two years of starting date of employment.
  • Associate Professor – 1) Ph.D./DBA in Accounting, preferably from and AACSB accredited institution.
  • Associate Professor – 2) Documented record of teaching excellence.
  • Associate Professor – 3) Demonstrated ability to publish an ongoing stream of publications in high-quality peer-reviewed outlets (no fewer than 3 in the most recent five-year period).
  • Associate Professor – 4) Documented record of service to the department, institution, and profession.
  • Associate Professor – 5) Interest in teaching in a hybrid or online format.
  • Associate Professor – 6) Professional certification or commitment to attain certification within two years of starting date of employment.
