About The Position

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre is seeking passionate Emergency Physicians for challenging and rewarding opportunities in a dynamic and progressive healthcare environment. This tertiary care hospital in the Greater Toronto Area sees 1.2 million patient visits annually, including 64,000 ED visits, and serves as a regional referral center for diverse specialties. It is Canada's largest trauma centre and the first hospital accredited by the American College of Surgeons as a Level 1 Trauma Centre. The department is a collaborative and collegial group of approximately 45 physicians committed to academic success and clinical excellence, prioritizing group wellness and flexible scheduling. Interests include pre-hospital care, quality improvement and patient safety, health services research, virtual care, technological innovation, ultrasound, and medical education. The role involves delivering exemplary, efficient, and patient-centered clinical care, supervising and supporting trainees, providing medical consultation to in-field paramedic teams, and contributing to the University's academic mission through education, quality improvement, research, and/or administrative initiatives. The position is a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.

Requirements

Certification in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC, CCFP-EM, or DABEM).
MD or equivalent degree.
Strong clinical expertise.
Commitment to teaching excellence.
Proficiency in English.
Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Eligible for a Full-Time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.

Responsibilities

Deliver exemplary, efficient, and patient-centered clinical care within a dynamic emergency medicine environment.
Play an active role in supervising and supporting trainees, fostering high-quality bedside teaching and mentorship.
Provide real-time medical consultation to in-field paramedic teams through the patch program.
Engage with the University’s academic mission by contributing to areas such as education, quality improvement, research, and/or administrative initiatives.
