About The Position

The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure/tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Genetics. The Department has begun a major expansion of the faculty as part of a 5-year strategic plan. We seek outstanding creative investigators in any area of genetics, including but not limited to gene expression and regulation, functional genomics and systems biology, developmental genetics, immunogenetics, molecular mechanisms of disease, evolutionary genetics, and other related fields whose research will synergize with and further strengthen research in both MGM and the CNG. The Department has active research programs in mammalian (human, mouse), Drosophila, viral, bacterial, and cancer genetics, together with expertise in gene discovery, genome and RNA editing, transcriptional and co/post-transcriptional regulation, disease pathomechanisms, RNA biochemistry, structural biology, protein biochemistry, and computational biology. The Department and Center offer a highly collegial and collaborative environment with existing interactions with numerous Colleges (Agriculture, Engineering, Liberal Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Public Health and Health Professions, Health & Human Performance ), Institutes (Genetics, Norman Fixel for Neurological Disease, Cancer, Emerging Pathogens, McKnight Brain, Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology) and Centers (CDC Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector Borne Diseases, Inflammation & Mucosal Immunology, NIH Southeast Center for Integrated Metabolomics, Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease).

Requirements

  • PhD, MD or MD/PhD in the biomedical sciences or a related field of study.
  • Eligibility to work in the US.

Responsibilities
