About The Position

The LSU Department of Sociology, one of the oldest in the South, is seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a specialization in Environment and Community. This role is at Louisiana State University, a flagship research university and the only public Carnegie designated Research Extensive University in the state. The position begins in August 2027. The department has a long history of awarding doctoral degrees and offers a vibrant academic community at an R1 university.

Requirements

  • Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Sociology or Anticipated Completion of Degree by August of 2027
  • Associate Professor: Ph.D. in Sociology + 6 years of higher education experience
  • Full Professor: Ph.D. in Sociology + 10 years of higher education experience
  • Show promise for developing or have a strong record of publications.
  • Valid U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and maintain that valid work authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate or undergraduate courses and hold regular office hours.
  • Supervise graduate assistant(s) if assigned.
