About The Position

The Buckley School, Los Angeles' oldest K–12 gender-inclusive learning institution, has an opening for an Assistant/Associate Director of Admission for our middle school. This position supports the Director of Enrollment Management and is responsible, together with the admission team, for all of the activities involved in recruiting, enrolling and onboarding a new diverse group of mission aligned students and families. Using an understanding of local demographics, the regional economy, and national trends to create a messaging campaign and application experience that will entice mission-appropriate families to apply and enroll, this position is an integral member of the k-12 team's ability to achieve the broader institutional enrollment objectives with specific responsibility for the Middle School (grades 6-8).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3+ years' experience of managing or supporting admissions at an independent school, college or in a related field

  • Experience with digital media and communication channels.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work long hours, including attendance at weekend and evening events.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Director of Enrollment Management, develop and implement a comprehensive admission enrollment strategy that promotes the School's mission and creates a compelling vision to the external community.
  • Represent the School and the School's interests at both internal and external-facing events, meetings, and design activities including virtual, on and off campus events, which may include but not limited to open houses, campus tours, recruiting visits to schools, Independent School fairs, assessment events and new family welcome events. (This may include evenings and weekends, especially during the peak season between September through May).
  • Engage prospective students and families on the school's robust campus footprint layered with signature programs curated and facilitated by exemplary teaching professionals and a community of diverse stakeholders.
  • Advise prospective families on requirements, policies and procedures of the admissions process.
  • Present to various audiences in size and scope with clear communication, warmth, positive energy, and genuine authenticity.
  • Conduct and evaluate the qualifications of prospective students through applications, determine tuition assistance eligibility, parent & student interviews, assessments, and standardized testing, as well as participate in Admission Committee meetings.
  • Design and implement all aspects of a Middle School parent ambassador program.
  • Develop strong relationships with faculty and staff to help them become ambassadors for Buckley and understand their role in recruiting and retaining families.
  • Plan and attend all Admission events and activities in concert with other team members on the master calendar and timeline.
  • In concert with the Admissions team, develop strong relationships with admissions officers and school placement officers at local elementary schools (TK-5), community organizations, and with local private educational consultants.
  • Assist with systemic evaluation and reporting related to data entry, compiling and analyzing of statistical data around the admissions funnel.
  • Develop and implement internal tracking systems to ensure strong cultivation, timely communication messaging, media presence, and follow-up efforts with maintaining traditional demographics and building upon underrepresented students/parents that Buckley targets for Admission.
  • Develop and manage analytic tools and metrics that will guide recruiting efforts that support the general Admission Office activities and institutional goals.
  • Collaborate to design and execute high quality recruiting and yield events with annual enrollment goals consistently met or exceeded.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Admission Office and the Middle School leadership and faculty.
  • Participate in the life of the school by attending regularly scheduled faculty/staff meetings, assemblies, games, concerts, galas, and other school events.
