About The Position

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating all Fieldwork Experiences and Doctoral Practicums for the Occupational Therapy Program. The role involves securing and maintaining external clinical rotation programs, preparing and coordinating legal contracts, and developing course objectives and materials to promote optimal student learning. The coordinator will also maintain documentation of student performance, establish communication links with fieldwork educators, clarify fieldwork issues within an ethical framework, and ensure the quality assurance of the program's clinical component. Additionally, the role requires staying current on legal issues and federal/state regulations concerning fieldwork, participating in institutional planning, reporting fieldwork information to inform the academic curriculum, and developing evaluation plans for fieldwork educators and sites. Other duties include course coordination, teaching, academic advising, assisting in securing extramural funding, and maximizing resources while maintaining faculty and staff morale.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience.
  • Occupational Therapy Licensure or licensure eligible in PA.
  • Documented expertise in area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery methods including web-supported classes and distance learning.
  • Documented administrative experience in occupational therapy administration (may include clinical and academic experiences).
  • Documented contribution to the Profession either through leadership or scholarship.
  • Abide by the occupational therapy code of ethics, standards of practice, philosophy, vision and goals.
  • A broad understanding of OT in its present and future role within a complex and dynamic healthcare system.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships with a variety of internal and external constituencies of the College.
  • Funded grant work or grant writing experience.
  • Knowledge and expertise in the clinical and emerging practice areas of OT.
  • Expertise in the field of OT education.
  • Teaching expertise in using biomedical sciences and evidence-based practice.
  • A track record of OT clinical innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Securing, maintaining and evaluating external clinical rotation programs for OT students nationwide.
  • Prepare, develop, and coordinate legal contracts and associated issues for fieldwork establishment and maintenance.
  • Develop fieldwork course objectives, course materials, and educational experiences that promote optimal learning for students.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate effective learning processes and course materials for students in the program and associated fieldwork sites.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student performance, collaboration with fieldwork settings and supervisors, and/or other information required for fieldwork experiences.
  • Establish communication links and implement and communicate policies and procedures pertaining to conditions and responsibilities for fieldwork educators as they relate to the OT program.
  • Clarify and analyze fieldwork issues within an ethical framework for positive resolution.
  • Content and quality assurance of the OT program clinical component.
  • Maintain current information on legal issues concerning fieldwork experiences, and pertinent federal/state regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Participate in institutional planning and the development of specific clinical/academic goals and objectives for the OT program.
  • Report information from fieldwork supervisors and fieldwork students to inform the academic curriculum (to Program Director and appropriate faculty).
  • Develop and implement a plan that effectively evaluates fieldwork educators and fieldwork sites to meet the objectives of the program and the organization.
  • Course coordination, teaching, and academic advising, as required.
  • Maximizing resources and maintenance of high faculty and staff morale in the OT program.
  • Assist in securing extramural funding.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
