About The Position

The Assistant Aquatics Director & Camp Aquatic Supervisor will assist with the monitoring of daily pool operations to ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations. This role involves modeling relationship-building skills, responding to member inquiries, and assisting with staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. The position also coordinates the swim lesson program, drives and supervises programs to meet community needs, builds community relationships, and compiles program statistics. Additional duties may include serving as the evening Director on Duty and filling in as a Lifeguard or Swim Instructor as needed. The role may also include the responsibility of Camp Aquatic Supervisor during the summer months.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent or at least two years' related experience; for example, as an aquatics coordinator or supervisor.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Hold current certifications in Lifeguarding: CPR/AED and First Aid.
  • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monitoring of daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Model relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Respond to all members and community inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Assist with recruiting and training staff, developing schedules, evaluating performance, motivating employees to achieve goals, and maintaining current and complete staff certification records.
  • Coordinate the swim lesson program, scheduling classes, staffing, and training instructors.
  • Drive and supervise programs to address community needs and advance YMCA objectives.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develop new activities and expand community programming in alignment with strategic and operational plans.
  • Compile program statistics.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and levels of participation in a program.
  • Perform additional duties/responsibilities/projects as directed by the Aquatic Director including evening Director on Duty, fill in Lifeguard and Swim Instructor shifts as needed.
  • Potentially serve as Camp Aquatic Supervisor for the Summer.
