Under limited supervision, performs administrative and supervisory work in the management, operation, and maintenance of the City Pool and Pavilion. Reports to the Pool Manager. Assists in planning, leading, organizing and controlling all activities, programs and facilities at the Pool and Pavilion complex. Assigns, directs and supervises activities of staff assigned to pool. Ensures prompt customer services and general administrative assistance to Pool / Pavilion patrons. Ensures adherence to established policies, procedures and standards; assists and advises subordinates, as necessary, resolving problems as non-routine situations arise; conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings and provides frequent feedback to staff to advise of program policies, procedures, goals, objectives, standards, etc. Ensures that all equipment, machinery and systems are operational and in good repair and that all maintenance schedules have been followed. Assist in administering or making recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including interviewing, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraising and disciplining, etc., submitting such records and reports as required to City management. Fosters and maintains positive relations with swimmers, civic groups, contractors, vendors, recreation program participants, and the general public; works with civic and interested groups to coordinate all aquatic events. Ensures that all applicable safety policies, procedures and practices are followed; conducts safety hazard identification inspections on facilities; ensures that all staff members are properly certified and licensed and that all certifications and licenses are current and up-to-date. Assists in administering contractual agreements with lessees of pool and pavilion, ensuring adherence to specifications and stipulations by Division and contracted parties. Receives and investigates complaints pertaining to conduct of Pool personnel, programs, procedures, etc., interviewing various parties and reviewing reports, and preparing verbal and/or written responses and recommendations, as appropriate; prepares reports for City Manager or other City officials, as requested or otherwise deemed appropriate. Attends seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the fields of aquatics administration, public recreation; reviews professional journals, attends association and professional meetings, and otherwise maintains contacts with aquatics, public recreation professionals to facilitate exchange of information. Performs other related work as required.
