About The Position

Assists hospital's Administrator in the operation of the hospital. Provides recommendations/guidance to management supporting administrative and facility decisions. Sets objectives, develops plans, staffs, and directs activities of assigned departments/areas of responsibility. Provides professional level planning, reporting, analysis and consultation, to support the goals and objectives of the organization. Helps manage the hospital operations. May assume administrative responsibility for the hospital in the absence of the hospital’s Administrator. Ensure consistency of treatment and application of policy. Responsible for the functioning of assigned departments – which may include support services and/or clinical services. Monitors/maintains budget for assigned departments. Promotes: Clinical Quality, Integrity, Safety, Service Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement, throughout all departments. Responsible for creating a fair, open environment for all teammates.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
  • Five (5) years clinical experience and two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations
  • Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions
  • Ability to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles
  • Ability to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Ability to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion
  • Capability to adapt to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis
  • Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License in order to drive hospital vehicles.
  • Must be willing and able to execute the patient de-escalation methods, both verbal and physical.
  • Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as State of Alaska Background Check and Drug Testing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate special training, knowledge and skills specific to age groups, as well as job and/or program specific competency within the first three (3) months of training.
  • Must be certified in CPR and Handle with Care within the first month of training and annually thereafter.
  • Must complete all required mandatory in-services annually.
  • Must be tested for Tuberculosis with a PPD skin test or chest x-ray upon hire; PPD skin test required annually or chest x-ray annually thereafter.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

  • LCSW or CPC Licensure preferred.

  • Ensures proactively that hospital operations are compliance with state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Promotes: Clinical Quality, Integrity, Safety, Service Excellence, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement, throughout all departments.
  • Responsible for creating a fair, open environment for all teammates.
  • May assume administrative responsibility for the hospital in the absence of the hospital’s CEO.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Fosters staff development and growth of team.
  • Provides regular coaching and feedback to employees to motivate performance.
  • Completes performance evaluations providing thorough feedback and goals to assigned staff by established deadlines.
  • Coordinates and provides day-to-day oversight to staff; actively involved in resolving employee matters/issues.
  • Maintains open communication through regular rounding and one to one meetings with employees and holds regular departmental staff meetings.
  • Ensures staff comply with assigned education requirement in a timely manner (i.e., CIA Training, HIPAA training, competencies, etc.).
  • Responsible for holding staff accountable with upholding facility policies/procedures and managing the corrective action process when needed.
  • Responsible for hiring, onboarding, and promotions for all staff within the team.
  • Maintains accurate job descriptions/evaluative tools for assigned staff.
  • Completes new-hire touch points in accordance with the facility’s Onboarding Plan.
  • Actively participates and champions the facility’s Service Excellence and Recognition Programs.
  • Develops team building initiatives to engage staff and build a positive team dynamic.
