About The Position

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Assignments Manager position is primarily responsible for implementing the student housing assignment process for an 8,300 bed operation. Specific assignment policies must be determined and communicated to first-year students, returners, transfers, grant-in-aid athletes, exchange study abroad partners, residential learning community participants, staff members, and other smaller program partners. The position serves as the face of our department when greeting students as they enter our suite and answers a majority of the phone and email inquiries. The position is also responsible for making housing assignments and requires a thorough understanding of our housing assignment software. In addition to random room changes and other system transactions, this person is responsible for completing all summer school assignments. The Assignments Manager reports to the Assistant Director for Assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing the student housing assignment process for an 8,300 bed operation.
  • Determining and communicating specific assignment policies to various student groups (first-year, returners, transfers, athletes, exchange students, RLC participants, staff, etc.).
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for greeting students and responding to a majority of phone and email inquiries.
  • Making housing assignments and utilizing housing assignment software.
  • Processing random room changes and other system transactions.
  • Completing all summer school assignments.
