About The Position

The Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) provides coverage in short-term, surge, and on-demand situations for military needs, such as post-deployment events or to cover existing assignments for absent counselors. This summer ARC counselor position specifically covers assignments during the May 15th through September 15th period, coinciding with the school summer break. With minimal guidance, the ARC delivers comprehensive Adult or Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations. These services encompass non-medical counseling, training/health and wellness presentations, consultation with parents, child daycare centers, schools, and installation command regarding behavioral health issues. ARC CYB counselors may be assigned to DoDEA schools, community schools, youth programs, and summer camps, requiring prior experience in a school setting for school-based roles. ARC adult counselors support MFLC services in various military community and readiness centers, as well as on-demand and surge assignments. Counselors collaborate closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure program scope and needs are met. Services include assessment, brief counseling, consultation, action planning, resource referral, and follow-up. CYB counselors also focus on supporting staff in child development centers, schools, youth programs, and summer camps, alongside providing parent training and guidance. Counselors conduct training and health and wellness presentations, participate in health fairs, and other base/installation activities, while daily activity data is entered via smartphone or web application, maintaining confidentiality.
