About The Position

The Assignment Desk Manager is responsible for assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to the station's website and social media sites. This role involves developing and editing creative and engaging videos for all social platforms, listening to scanners and reacting to breaking news, making beat checks, monitoring web sites and social media, and reacting to developing news. The manager will also develop and maintain contacts and sources to enterprise story ideas and assist in the efficient operations of the Content Center.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of assignment desk experience
• Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
• General knowledge and interest in local, national and world news
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platforms

Nice To Haves

• Compelling and accurate writing
• Bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism is also preferred
