Assignment Desk Manager

About The Position

The Assignment Desk Manager is responsible for assigning and tracking news crews, identifying and developing daily content, and writing and posting content to the station website and social media sites. This role requires compelling and accurate writing, the ability to develop and edit creative and engaging videos for all social platforms, and the capacity to monitor scanners, beat checks, websites, and social media to react to breaking and developing news. The manager will also develop and maintain contacts and sources to enterprise story ideas and assist in the efficient operations of the Content Center.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of assignment desk experience
Commitment to journalistic standards of ethics and accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively
Basic computer knowledge/word processing skills
General knowledge and interest in local, national and world news
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter and emerging social media platforms

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree with a major in journalism is also preferred
