About The Position

The Assignment & Web Producer answers incoming news calls, assigns daily news stories based on available news personnel, and produces and distributes content across multiple media platforms. The role includes developing and coordinating news coverage, producing and editing newscast content, and optimizing selected editorial content for websites and other platforms. The producer works with the News Director, news producers, managers, and other team members to plan and present coverage across broadcast, digital, and web.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
At least one year of experience in newsgathering and/or production.
Experience writing, producing, and editing on a desktop editing system.
Knowledge and understanding of various media platforms.
Basic understanding and demonstration of multimedia file formats.
Strong computer skills.
Understanding of the importance of social media.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming news calls and assign daily news stories according to available news personnel.
Produce, organize, write, and edit content for newscasts.
Dispatch photographers, reporters, and other personnel to cover stories.
Coordinate logistics for news personnel.
Participate in daily story meetings, provide a comprehensive list of possible news stories, and work with the News Director to develop plans for broadcasts.
Assist with the development, planning, and follow-up of news stories.
Edit video clips as assigned.
Collaborate with news producers and managers to conceptualize, produce, and present content across multiple media platforms.
Confer regularly with team members to select the strongest editorial piece produced each day and optimize articles for websites.
Own the editorial and creative development and coverage of assigned stories across broadcast, digital, web, and other platforms.
Perform other duties as assigned.
