About The Position

The Asset Protection Agent helps protect associates, customers, and store assets by promoting shrink awareness, deterring theft, monitoring store activity, and investigating criminal or policy-violating conduct. The role partners with Store and Asset Protection leadership, supports customer service initiatives, maintains a safe and secure store environment, and assists with investigations and law enforcement or court proceedings. The agent may also be assigned additional duties in support of business needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement, if applicable.
• If required by the state or local municipality, hold a salesperson license or pass the requisite licensing exam within 60 days of starting employment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Business, Safety, or a related loss prevention or asset protection field.
• Demonstrated experience conducting retail investigations, including at least one retail investigation.
• Experience using physical security systems such as CCTV and EAS.
• Experience conducting investigations involving Organized Crime and asset protection.
• Completion of a nationally certified training program, such as Wicklander-Zulawski or Reed training.
• Professional accreditation such as LPQ or LPC, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Coach and train associates and leaders on shrink awareness, theft deterrence, and customer service programs.
• Partner with Store and Asset Protection leadership to identify theft trends, develop action plans, and promote awareness initiatives.
• Deliver SMART customer service and ensure associates have the resources to do the same.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and secure store environment by monitoring entrances, exits, and high-risk areas.
• Monitor surveillance, reports, and exception-based tools to detect theft, fraud, and policy violations.
• Conduct external theft apprehensions and interviews in accordance with laws and company policy.
• Investigate and resolve criminal activity, maintain case files, and support law enforcement and court proceedings.
• Assist with internal investigations and provide evidence when needed.
• Validate store security measures, including locks, gates, and alarms, and respond to EAS and emergency exit triggers.
• Provide feedback on audit and inspection findings and support efforts to minimize shrink and operational risk.
• Respond effectively to potentially violent situations while ensuring safety and composure.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of business needs.
