About The Position

Performs inventory and asset management support work for the Support Services Division. Work involves coordinating the disposition of surplus property for the Department. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.

Requirements

  • High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.
  • 1 year of experience in inventory, asset management, or related experience (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).
  • College education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Considerable knowledge of records inventory and appraisal.
  • Considerable knowledge of inventory management method.
  • Considerable knowledge of inventory/stock control procedures.
  • Proficient skill in maintaining property inventory and equipment, supplies or furniture.
  • Proficient skill in maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficient skill in evaluating products, equipment and material.
  • Proficient skill in conducting inventory activities.
  • Proficient skill in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Proficient skill in prioritizing and organizing work assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient skill in using computers and applicable software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the Support Services division surplus warehouse electronic mailbox for surplus requests.
  • Coordinates the transport and receipt of Department assets between districts/divisions and the surplus warehouse.
  • Receives and evaluates surplus Department assets to determine the condition of the items and the appropriate disposition action.
  • Photographs surplus items that are in good condition and creates posting for reuse within the Department or upload for public auction.
  • Enters data and maintains records of inventory, transfers, and sale of surplus assets.
  • Prepares and coordinates the disposition of Department assets for public auction.
  • Provides customer service to TxDOT employees and the public by answering questions regarding surplus items available for transfer or auction; informs online action buyers of payment receipt dates and item pickup deadlines.
  • Assigns new asset tags and reprints asset tags that are damaged or missing numbers.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
