About The Position

We're looking for an Asset Management Engineer, Interior Stations to help optimize the safety, reliability, and performance of our natural gas infrastructure through data-driven engineering and strategic asset planning. In this role, you'll use asset, operational, integrity, and financial data to develop recommendations that support critical infrastructure decisions. You'll collaborate with teams across Engineering, Operations, Integrity, and Project Management to evaluate investments, assess risks, and identify opportunities to improve system performance and long-term asset value. You'll apply engineering, reliability, and lifecycle cost principles to support asset replacement, rehabilitation, and expansion programs while contributing to capital planning and major infrastructure initiatives. We're seeking a collaborative engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 4–7 years of experience, and eligibility for P.Eng. registration in British Columbia. Experience with utility infrastructure, asset management, risk assessment, and reliability analysis will be an asset. Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles and practices related to natural gas Distribution and Transmission infrastructure.
  • Experience in the design, modification, assessment, and construction of utility assets, including pipelines, pressure control systems, and measurement facilities
  • Knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, codes, constructability considerations, and project development practices.
  • Ability to evaluate engineering alternatives using risk, lifecycle cost, technical performance, reliability, and operational criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, interpret, and challenge engineering designs, drawings, calculations, technical reports, and construction specifications.
  • Familiarity of CSA, ASME and API codes including CSA Z662, ASME B31.3, B31.8, Section VIII-1, API 510, 570, 579, IEC 61511, 61508, and API RP 551, and 554.
  • Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and logical approaches in the investigation of operating problems, concerns, complaints and incidents.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Responsibilities

  • Apply sound engineering design principles and practices in the development, assessment, and optimization of asset investments including CPCN development.
  • Develop and review preliminary, and detailed engineering designs for asset replacement, expansion, rehabilitation, and system improvement projects.
  • Assess design alternatives and recommend technically and economically optimal solutions considering safety, operability, reliability, maintainability, constructability, environmental impacts, and lifecycle costs.
  • Provide engineering input into design standards, technical specifications, equipment selection, system configurations, and asset performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering design, operations, integrity, and project management teams to ensure alignment between asset management strategies and engineering solutions.
  • Analyse complex datasets from asset management systems including SAP, GIS, integrity management programs, and financial systems to identify performance trends and emerging risks.
  • Develop technical analyses and evidence-based recommendations using quantitative risk assessment, reliability analysis, and economic evaluation techniques.
  • Apply asset criticality frameworks, risk-ranking methodologies, and investment prioritization models to optimize capital allocation across the asset portfolio.
  • Identify key asset performance indicators and establish data-driven monitoring programs to assess asset condition, reliability, risk exposure, and investment effectiveness.
