About The Position

This position is a Portfolio Management/ Underwriting role, inclusive of current and new customer calling and pitching. As a Portfolio Manager, the hire would manage 7-10 primarily lead and some participations, while also managing the underwriting of new borrowers and helping train younger team members. The position is involved in the decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions for BMO. The position is to be located in Chicago to support the market team. It oversees credit and legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance. It provides accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers. It oversees the preparation of concise, well-reasoned credit correspondence. It coordinates the preparation of lending proposals and pitches to prospective clients with efforts to maximize penetration and returns. It negotiates transactions with clients and provides deal structuring expertise. It manages the workflow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives. It develops credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans. It assists in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e-mail interaction with clients. It prepares summaries, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit worthiness. It establishes cross-selling initiatives to increase penetration with clients. It applies knowledge in bank products, processes, and systems and effectively troubleshoots to ensure a high-quality client experience. It coordinates closing with the closing department, clients, and attorneys. It minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions. It provides specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support. It exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. It works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Typically between 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience helpful
