About The Position

Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Portfolio Manager with knowledge and experience in lending within the Non-Depository Financial Institution (NDFI) space including note-on-note, and other private credit areas of lending. Our team partners with clients to deliver customized credit solutions that support our Borrowers while managing risk. Ideal candidates will have the skills and experience necessary to support the lending unit related to borrowing based lines of credit within the warehouse, private credit, and other NDFI lines of credit the Bank provides to qualifying Borrowers. This role involves evaluating and contributing to the proper structuring, due-diligence, underwriting, legal documentation, closing, financial data analysis, and the managing of both new and existing complex collateral based loans. The position requires reviewing and analyzing field exam results, identifying collateral and credit risks and recommending appropriate mitigants. The candidate will prepare loan packages for approval, including the submission and presentation of underwriting memo for approval. The role is accountable for appropriate loan documentation, borrowing-base calculation, the loan closing process and internal on-boarding of new customers. Responsibilities include analyzing and documenting the financial performance of borrowers and the condition of underlying collateral, ensuring compliance with financial and loan covenants, and potentially managing troubled loans and workout situations. Additionally, the role provides advice and counsel to clients regarding trends and conditions of the business environment, capital markets, and general banking trends, performs financial projection modeling, and ensures that production and quality of work performed by independent contractors is monitored and meeting service levels. The position also manages department projects and other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • 1-8+ years in asset-based lending, including direct experience underwriting or managing NDFI facilities such as note-on-note, warehouse, fund finance, or lender finance lines, field exam, loan documentation, loan workouts, monitoring collateral and credit performance, economic and industry evaluations, or other directly related experience.
  • Familiar with private credit asset classes and the structures used to finance specialty finance, consumer, and commercial receivables.
  • Experience setting advance rates and eligibility criteria and reviewing borrowing-base certificates.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and finance, including the ability to interpret financial statements and build financial models.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • Working knowledge of commercial/corporate loan structures, setting of appropriate loan and financial covenants and industry standard loan documentation.
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Solid problem resolution, analysis, communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have solid interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and financial modeling.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, banking, or a related field.
