About The Position

The Weekend Baylor Assessment and Referral RN is a registered professional nurse who assesses and evaluates patients being admitted to the hospital, takes physician orders and does complete medication reconciliation with the physician in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Must have good clinical skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Complete the Nursing Assessment documenting patient information, medications, medical history, vital signs, and skin assessment. Employ principles of communication and interviewing techniques. Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations. Must be familiar with common diagnoses with these population groups and familiar with specific assessment and interviewing skills for each population group. Call physician for admission and medication orders. Complete Medication Reconciliation by patient/family/pharmacy verification. Report any signs or symptoms of infection, illness, medical instability to physician after assessment.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited RN program.
Currently licensed to practice by the Illinois State Board of Nursing.
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility preferred.
Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-X, the Mental Status Exam, and the Addiction and Recovery field.
Experience completing medical clearance.
Experience working in a fast pace intake department.
Experience working in an emergency department/crisis setting.
Experience with DSM-5 diagnosing.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree preferred.
