About The Position

This recruitment is open and promotional, meaning all are welcome to apply and current employees in permanent positions are eligible to receive seniority credit and promotional placement once passing all exams. There is currently one vacancy within the Education Services Division (working 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year). The role involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing specialized duties to support the District student assessment program. This includes coordinating state testing aspects such as ordering, training, ensuring compliance, and maintaining testing procedures and security. The specialist will also provide teachers, principals, and district administrators with pertinent and accurate information to impact student achievement.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school supplemented by college-level coursework in statistics or related field.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration of a student assessment program.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement specialized duties in support of the District student assessment program.
  • Ability to coordinate state testing aspects including ordering, training, assisting with compliance, maintaining testing procedures, and security.
  • Ability to provide support to District-level assessments.
  • Ability to maintain the data warehouse, student information system, and associated reports.
  • Ability to provide support to State accountability reports.
  • Ability to train and provide work direction to assigned staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement specialized duties in support of the District student assessment program.
  • Serve as a technical resource to school sites, system vendors, subcontractors, auditors, and parents regarding assessment policies, procedures, and data information.
  • Coordinate state testing aspects including ordering, training, assisting with compliance, maintaining testing procedures, and security.
  • Provide administrative support and oversight to current state testing standards and physical fitness tests.
  • Provide support to District-level assessments, including designing assessment shells and other data collection and reporting systems.
  • Maintain the data warehouse, student information system, and associated reports.
  • Import external and State test data; maintain data integrity.
  • Create accounts and provide school site support.
  • Create data reports to assist with the identification of trends and support of instructional initiatives.
  • Provide support to State accountability reports, compile and create data reports, and review CALPADS extracts to assure data integrity.
  • Train and provide work direction to assigned staff.
  • Provide technical information and assistance to the Director regarding assigned functions.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files related to personnel and assigned activities.
  • Communicate with other administrators, personnel, and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs, resolve issues and conflicts, and exchange information.
  • Participate in the development of the annual preliminary budget.
  • Analyze and review budgetary and financial data.
  • Control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations.
  • Operate a computer and assigned software programs.
  • Operate other office equipment as assigned.
  • Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
